The Straits Times, March 10 2006

Businesses with a social mission will get a lift from the Government, which will help them as much as it can without giving them an unfair advantage over commercial businesses.

These firms, also known as social enterprises, were lauded by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports yesterday for bringing revenue and jobs to local charities.

Besides providing seed funding, it will back the Social Innovation Park founded by Ms Penny Low (Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC) for aspiring social entrepreneurs to build up their business models. The park helps in areas such as networking, marketing and training.
