SIP International SIP Kashmir
SIP Kashmir

SIP in Kashmir was constituted formally in January 2009. The members of SIP Kashmir Chapter are from different backgrounds and all have made a contribution in the common lives of people in Kashmir. SIP has identified three areas of service for the people of Kashmir: Health, Literacy and the Rehabilitation of Women and Children. Due to the turmoil in Kashmir, women and children have been the worst sufferers and irrespective of cast, creed and religion they have suffered a lot.

SIP Kashmir believes strongly that change has to be positive in order to make it effective.  In the month of June, the SIP Kashmir team visited areas near the L.O.C.* to identify the problems being faced by the local public. A diabetic screening camp was organised by SIP Kashmir at Nagam, District Badgam, Kashmir for elderly women. SIP Kashmir has formed a task force to cater to the water problems faced by locals. These groups are called SIP Water Clubs, where in the concept is to tie up with local schools and during the break time they make local people aware about the different methods of conserving water.  SIP in association with other groups will be organising a special leadership debate titled "ROLE OF KASHMIRI YOUNGSTERS IN SHAPING THE FUTURE OF KASHMIR".

SIP Kashmir chapter believes: FACE EVERY CHALLENGE AS A CHANGE FOR POSITIVITY.

*L.O.C. – also known as the Line of Control, the military control line between the Indian- and Pakistani-controlled parts of the former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. For more information, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_of_control
