Global Dignity Day with GIIS – 17th Oct 2018

For over 10 years, Global Dignity has been engaging young people around the world in a powerful and immersive learning experience focused on the universal values of our shared humanity: Dignity.

Dignity is our inherent value and worth as human beings, and everyone is born with it. When understood and applied, dignity has the power to transform the world into a place where compassion, understanding and love triumph over intolerance, injustice and inequality.

This year, as part SIP’s effort in building an inclusive, sustainable and mindful world, SIP is partnering with Global Indian International School (GIIS) to educate our primary school children what dignity is. The students were greatly excited by the interactive activities, and many of them even came forward to share what dignity personally means to them. A handful shared how they have been inspired by the “heroes” in their lives. Others shared how an encounter moved them to continue to show love and respect for others in their daily lives. It was truly heartening to see the young ones willing to stand up for injustice and having the desire to make a change in the world with love.

Beyond all the stories of great inspirations, the biggest take away for the students is having to see that they are unique and worthy individuals, gifted with unique strengths. Likewise, the same principle applies to the same person next to them. As Pope Francis says, “The future is, most of all, in the hands of those people who recognize the other as a “you” and themselves as part of an “us”. We all need each other.”

We thank Global Indian International School for providing us the opportunity to educate, empower and enhance the hearts and minds of these young changemakers!
